Calls for Investigation into Upstate NY DA’s Conduct After Hostile Encounter with Police

The Rochester City Council has called for an investigation into the conduct of Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley after a hostile encounter with police. In a letter addressed to State Attorney General Letitia James, all nine city council members expressed concerns about Doorley’s behavior during a traffic stop in Webster, New York.

The incident, captured on bodycam footage from the Webster Police Department, shows Doorley refusing to pull over for speeding and subsequently insulting the police officer who attempted to stop her. The council members stated that Doorley’s actions raise doubts about her fitness to serve as District Attorney and called for an inquiry by the Attorney General’s office.

They emphasized that public officials are expected to adhere to the highest standards of ethics and accountability, and Doorley’s behavior appears to violate these standards. The council members asserted that such conduct undermines the credibility and integrity of the justice system and erodes public trust.

The request for an investigation underscores the seriousness of the matter and the need for accountability in upholding the standards of conduct for elected officials.
