North Texans are preparing for a cold snap, with the Texas Department of Transportation TxDOT taking steps to ensure road safety ahead of predicted winter weather.
Crews pre-treated all major highways in Dallas and Fort Worth with brine on Friday to prevent ice from bonding to the roadways when precipitation hits later in the week.
TxDOT is ready to respond with snow removal and additional brine application if necessary, focusing on elevated surfaces like bridges and overpasses.
Meanwhile, residents are stocking up on firewood to stay warm. Cody White and Andrew Rampley were among those securing firewood at a gas station in Colleyville, with Rampley recalling past winter storms and preparing for the potential impact.
Despite the chill, some North Texans, like Dean Minchillo, are embracing the winter weather, acknowledging that it won’t last long before the Texas heat returns.
