In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, a group of West Virginia miners from Alpha Metallurgical Resources AMR collaborated to rebuild a road in Chimney Rock, North Carolina, that was washed out by the storm.
The miners utilized heavy equipment to create a drivable road and to move debris.
AMR’s CEO, Andy Eidson, noted that A&P donated additional equipment and manpower to assist in the effort.
The project spanned a week, and while an official completion date for a permanent road from Bat Cave to Chimney Rock has not been determined, the miners’ swift response highlights the critical role of community and industry collaboration in disaster relief and infrastructure restoration.
