On November 26, Roulack pleaded guilty in the Henrico County Circuit Court. The judge gave him an additional five years in prison, though two of those years are suspended, meaning he won’t have to serve them unless he breaks the law again.
Roulack escaped from police custody in August 2023 while being treated at a hospital. He managed to flee from Bon Secours St. Mary’s Hospital just before 6 a.m., wearing a hospital gown and no shoes.
An investigation by the Virginia Department of Corrections found that the officers assigned to watch Roulack were asleep when he escaped. He had flex-cuffs on his wrists and ankles, which are made of nylon and were put on him for an MRI, making it easier for him to break free.
The two officers in charge of monitoring Roulack resigned in August after the escape.
After escaping, Roulack was linked to a carjacking in Montgomery County. Around midnight on September 1, he approached a woman on Deer Park Road, pointed a gun at her, and demanded her car. He made her get in, drove a few blocks, then told her to get out before driving off.
At the time of his escape, Roulack was already serving a 13-year sentence for crimes including malicious wounding, grand larceny, and hit-and-run. With the new charges, he will now serve a total of 16 years in prison.
