U.S. Army Veteran Indicted for Attempting to Join Hezbollah and Support Terrorism

Jack Danaher Molloy, a 24-year-old U.S. Army veteran with dual U.S.-Irish nationality, has been indicted on charges of attempting to provide material support to a terrorist” organization.

The indictment, issued by the Justice Department, details Molloy’s alleged efforts to join Hezbollah, which is designated by the U.S. government as a terrorist group.

Molloy is accused of traveling to Lebanon in August with the intent to join Hezbollah, and after being rebuffed, attempting to join the organization in Syria.

Molloy is also accused of continuing his efforts after returning to the United States by engaging in online communication with individuals in Lebanon.

Additionally, prosecutors claim that Molloy used social media to promote violence against Jewish people, including a message in which he allegedly expressed his intent to join Hezbollah and kill Jews. If convicted, Molloy faces a potential sentence of up to 20 years in prison.
