A California grandmother was killed when a man jumped off a highway overpass and landed on her car. Margarita Novela Galindo and her husband, Florencio, were driving on the 210 Freeway near Sylmar on the evening of August 9 when the man, who was threatening to end his life, fell onto their vehicle.
The Los Angeles Fire Department received reports of the man’s intentions shortly before the incident. He crashed through the windshield of Galindo’s car, landing on her. Although Florencio was not seriously hurt, Margarita was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. She spent nearly three weeks in the ICU before passing away on August 28.
David Galindo, Margarita’s son, shared the family’s grief on GoFundMe, highlighting the immense loss of their beloved mother and grandmother. He expressed the unfairness of the tragedy, noting how Margarita’s life was cut short due to someone else’s actions.
The family is struggling to cope with their loss, often reflecting on how different things might have been with just a slight change in circumstances. They are also dealing with the emotional weight of not having had a chance to say goodbye.
Despite their sorrow, Florencio does not harbor any resentment toward the man who took his wife’s life. He empathizes with the man’s unknown struggles, as shared by Stephanie Galindo, his daughter.
