The atmosphere in Indianapolis is heavy as the city grieves the loss of two lives due to separate shootings that took place early on Saturday.
The initial occurrence took place at approximately 12:30 a.m. in the near northeast side, specifically on Schofield Avenue in the vicinity of 30th Street and Keystone Avenue.
Authorities quickly responded to the location and discovered an individual who had sustained severe injuries from gunshots. Despite the best efforts of responders, unfortunately, the victim could not be saved and passed away after being rushed to a nearby hospital, as detailed in an official police report.
Shortly after, another unfortunate incident occurred on the south side of Indy, close to the intersection of South Madison Avenue and East Stop 11 Road. Officers arrived at Siear Drive around 3 a.m. and found another victim who had tragically lost their life due to a gunshot wound.
As investigations into both incidents continue, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) is encouraging individuals who may have information to step forward. Detective Shue, stationed at the IMPD Homicide Office, is currently investigating the near northeast shooting.
