Timothy Hickerson, 43, was apprehended during a routine traffic stop on Old Kings Road after running a red light.
Deputies discovered that Hickerson had an outstanding fugitive warrant from Virginia for the second-degree murder and burglary related to the disappearance of Shane Donahue, 23, who was last seen leaving his parents’ Nokesville home in March 2010.
While Donahue’s remains have not been recovered, Virginia authorities presume him dead and reopened the case after recent investigative breakthroughs.
Detectives linked Hickerson to a burglary at Donahue’s home just days before his disappearance.
Sheriff Rick Staly commented on the arrest, underscoring that there’s no such thing as a simple traffic stop and lauded the capture of a fugitive after more than a decade on the run.
Hickerson, who had been living in Palm Coast since 2022, will be held without bond pending his extradition to Virginia. Sheriff Staly emphasized that fugitives will be caught no matter where they flee.
