South Dakota, Colorado, and Wyoming Drug Traffickers Sentenced in Federal Court

Three men from South Dakota, Wyoming, and Colorado were sentenced in federal court for their roles in a methamphetamine distribution conspiracy. U.S. District Judge Karen E. Schreier issued the sentences.

Chris Janis, 50, from Manderson, South Dakota, was sentenced to six years in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release.

Richard Glover, 43, from Denver, Colorado, received a 17-year and six-month prison term, with five years of supervised release.

Sentencing for the third man, Dustin Fiala from Gillette, Wyoming, is still pending.

The men were involved in a large-scale meth distribution operation affecting South Dakota, Wyoming, and Colorado. The investigation uncovered their scheme to distribute meth in Rapid City and the Pine Ridge Reservation.

U.S. Attorney Alison J. Ramsdell praised the efforts of various law enforcement agencies that led to the case’s successful prosecution.

The investigation was conducted by the Unified Narcotics Enforcement Team (UNET), the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and the Bureau of Indian Affairs. UNET includes officers from the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office, Rapid City Police Department, South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation, South Dakota National Guard, and South Dakota Highway Patrol.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), which unites law enforcement and communities to reduce violent crime and improve neighborhood safety.
