Senator John Schickel was honored with the 2024 John Bauer Award at the Northern Kentucky Right to Life’s (NKRTL) 51st Celebration for Life, held at a reception center in Erlanger.
The award recognized Schickel’s steadfast dedication to protecting the unborn throughout his 16 years in the Kentucky Senate.
NKRTL President Fred H. Summe praised Schickel’s tireless advocacy, highlighting his pivotal role in advancing pro-life legislation such as HB 2 2017, SB 5 2017, and the Fetal Heartbeat Bill SB 9, 2019. Schickel expressed deep gratitude for the recognition, emphasizing the importance of being a voice for the voiceless.
The event also featured keynote speaker Steven W. Mosher, president of the Population Research Institute, who shared his journey from being a pro-choice atheist to a leading pro-life advocate after witnessing the coercive abortion practices in China.
Additionally, Rhonda Massie, the late wife of U.S. Rep. Thomas Massie, was honored for her commitment to family and community. Her contributions to family values were celebrated during a heartfelt tribute.
Schickel, who announced his retirement earlier this year, expressed his continued commitment to pro-life advocacy and his confidence in NKY Right to Life’s ongoing efforts to lead with faith and love.
