A man was found guilty last week for the shooting death of a local musician, known as one of Sacramento’s most talented rappers, at a fast food restaurant after a high-speed chase, prosecutors said.
A Sacramento County jury convicted Moses Hirschfield of first-degree murder and being a felon in possession of a firearm on Friday, according to the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office.
The musician, Christopher Treadwell, 24, who performed as Bris, was shot on June 21, 2020, after an encounter with Hirschfield. Treadwell had gone to an ampm gas station where he saw Hirschfield.
After leaving the store, Hirschfield chased Treadwell in his car, reaching speeds of up to 113 mph. The chase ended when Treadwell lost control and crashed his car. Hirschfield then chased him on foot and shot him in the head at a JimBoy’s Tacos drive-thru on Franklin Boulevard and Fruitridge Road in south Sacramento.
Hirschfield’s sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 29, where he could face 50 years to life in prison.
Treadwell had released many music videos on YouTube, including the song “Panhandling,” which gained popularity after his death, with some videos getting over 10 million views. He is survived by two children, according to the Grammy Awards website.
