Preparing for Hurricane Milton: Red Cross Volunteers from Oklahoma and Kansas Step Up

Around 15 American Red Cross disaster workers from Oklahoma and Kansas have been deployed to Florida in anticipation of Hurricane Milton’s landfall.

These volunteers will assist with sheltering and feeding operations for those affected by the hurricane. Many of the volunteers recently completed shelter academies to prepare for disaster response.

Genyce Goodchild, a Regional Client Care Manager and shelter supervisor, expressed her honor in serving alongside new volunteers and reflected on the importance of being present for those in need.

The Red Cross emphasized that shelters are available for both people and pets, with over 32,000 individuals seeking refuge in Red Cross-managed shelters.

In recent weeks, disaster workers have also been active in the Carolinas, Georgia, and Tennessee, providing over 513,000 meals and snacks to those impacted by Hurricane Helene.

To support the American Red Cross of Oklahoma, donations can be made through their official website.
