Oregon Protests Against Trump s Second-Term Agenda: Hundreds Rally in Eugene, Portland, and Salem

This article outlines a series of protests in Oregon on February 5, 2025, where hundreds gathered in Eugene, Portland, and Salem to voice their opposition to President Trump’s policies, particularly his second-term agenda.

The protests were driven by concerns over issues such as shrinking the federal government, cracking down on immigration, and reversing policies related to racial equity and LGBTQ+ rights.

In Eugene, protesters focused on urging Oregon’s U.S. Senators, Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden, to take stronger action against the Trump administration’s initiatives, including stopping Russell Vought’s nomination to the Office of Management and Budget.

The protest in Portland saw participants criticizing Trump’s cabinet appointees, including Elon Musk’s influence in the administration, while protesters in Salem rallied in support of transgender rights and abortion access, with some dressed as characters from The Handmaid’s Tale to symbolize their opposition to potential rollbacks of women’s rights.

The protests reflect growing frustration with the administration’s policies, and the calls for resistance were clear—protesters in all three cities demanded that lawmakers fight against what they view as an erosion of democratic values and rights.
