Operation October Sky, a weeklong statewide drug trafficking investigation in West Virginia, resulted in numerous arrests and significant seizures of illegal substances, firearms, and cash.
The initiative, aimed at addressing the state’s ongoing drug crisis, involved more than 30 law enforcement agencies and took place from October 7 to 14.
According to a news release from the Governor’s Office, the operation led to the confiscation of over 28 pounds of methamphetamine, nearly half a pound of fentanyl, as well as cocaine and heroin.
Authorities made 70 felony arrests and 176 misdemeanor arrests. Additionally, 30 firearms and over $30,000 in cash were seized.
This aggressive effort reflects the state’s commitment to combating drug trafficking and its associated violence and addiction issues.
