Omaha Rally: Michael Bennet and Wendy DeBoer Discuss Solutions for Rising Family Expenses

Colorado State Senator Michael Bennet campaigned in Omaha, Nebraska, promoting Vice President Kamala Harris’s plans to alleviate financial burdens on families. At a news conference, he and Nebraska State Senator Wendy DeBoer highlighted how the rising cost of living is affecting families in Nebraska.

Bennet focused on Harris’s proposal to expand the Child Tax Credit, which previously helped many families, stating that 90% of children in both Nebraska and Colorado benefitted from it. He emphasized the importance of making this credit permanent to provide continued support for middle-class families.

One of the attendees, Stephanie Torres-Chan, shared her personal story about being part of the “Sandwich Generation,” caring for both her young daughter and elderly father. She noted that the Child Tax Credit significantly assisted her family, allowing them to save for daycare expenses.

Sonita Buddi, the founder of Brighten Our Future Learning Center, spoke about the challenges of providing affordable, high-quality early childhood education, stressing the need for accessible care regardless of income levels.

The event underscored the importance of Harris’s plans in addressing child poverty and supporting families amid rising living costs.
