A teenager who went missing in North Dakota was tragically shot and killed in Las Vegas over the Labor Day weekend.
The incident occurred on Monday around 4:30 p.m. in the 6900 block of Kepler Drive, near Carey Avenue and Hollywood Boulevard. Police identified the victim as 15-year-old James Lobue, who had just celebrated his birthday the day before. He had been living with relatives in Las Vegas after previously staying with his mother in Bismarck, North Dakota.
According to Las Vegas police, the teen was with a group of other young people when someone heard a gunshot. Lobue, who had been shot, emerged from a room in an upstairs apartment. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
His mother, Christina Downs Andujar, expressed her grief and desire for answers. He wasn’t just a kid without anyone. He has a whole family, she said. He was outgoing, funny, and the life of the party.
Police have not made any arrests or released details about a suspect or motive. They are still investigating what led to the shooting.
