NORAD Tracks Four Russian Planes in Alaska ADIZ, No Threat to North America

The recent announcement from the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) highlights the routine monitoring of Russian aircraft in the Alaska Air Defense Identification Zone ADIZ.

According to NORAD, four Russian planes were detected in the ADIZ on Monday, September 2024, but they did not enter American or Canadian sovereign airspace.

The ADIZ, while monitored for national security purposes, is not considered sovereign airspace, meaning incursions are not viewed as provocative unless boundaries are crossed.

NORAD also emphasized that such Russian activity is a regular occurrence and does not constitute a direct threat.

Russian aircraft have been spotted multiple times throughout September, including on September 11, 13, and 16, with planes ranging from TU-142s to IL-38 military aircraft.

NORAD reassured the public that they maintain a robust defense system, employing satellites, radar, and fighter jets to track and respond to any potential threats.

This ongoing surveillance underscores the importance of constant vigilance in the interest of protecting North American airspace and ensuring national security.
