The Nebraska Supreme Court recently saw a transition in leadership with Chief Justice Jeffrey Funke succeeding former Chief Justice Mike Heavican on November 22, 2024.
Funke’s elevation to chief justice led to a vacancy on the court, which was filled by Gov. Jim Pillen’s selection of Platte County District Judge Jason M. Bergevin.
Bergevin, a former assistant attorney general and U.S. Air Force Judge Advocate General’s Corps member, began his judicial career in 2022.
Pillen praised Bergevin’s extensive legal experience, highlighting his leadership in establishing problem-solving courts in Platte County and his work with state agencies.
Bergevin joins the court in place of Funke, contributing to the diverse expertise within the state’s highest court.
