Nebraska’s Governor, Jim Pillen, has been hospitalized in the ICU after being thrown off a horse while riding with family members.
The 68-year-old suffered broken vertebrae, ribs, and an injury to his spleen. He was rushed to a hospital as a precaution and later transferred to another hospital.
The governor’s office stated that he is alert and in regular contact with his team.
He is expected to stay at the University of Nebraska Medical Center for several days but was expected to leave the ICU by Monday and remain in the hospital for at least one more day.
Pillen, who took office in 2022, is a former veterinarian and livestock business owner.
