Mississippi Residents Triumph as Family Dollar Settles, Gift Cards Distributed

Mississippi Retail Win: Family Dollar Resolves Class Action with $25 Gift Card Compensation for Shoppers

The discount retail chain Family Dollar, owned by Dollar Tree Inc, has reached an agreement to settle a class action lawsuit filed by shoppers in various states.

Last year, Family Dollar faced an investigation by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regarding its distribution center in Arkansas. The inquiry was initiated following a customer’s complaint about unsanitary shopping conditions. After a thorough inspection, the FDA discovered a widespread rodent infestation throughout the facility.

Consequently, Family Dollar had to temporarily close 400 of its stores across Mississippi and five other states, affecting a total of 119 stores in Mississippi.

In response to the situation, a class action was filed, alleging that the company had sold potentially contaminated products in specific stores starting in January 2020. To avoid a costly trial, Family Dollar has reached a settlement with the plaintiffs.

If you resided in Mississippi and purchased a product from an affected Family Dollar Store between January 1, 2020, and February 18, 2022, you may be eligible for a $25 Family Dollar Gift Card as part of the Class Action Settlement.

Residents have until January 9 to submit a claim, opt out of the settlement, or object to it. For information on how to claim your gift card, visit the provided website.
