The Mid-South is preparing for a challenging weather weekend, as KWAM meteorologist Laura Huckabee reports potential heavy rain, severe storms, and a dramatic drop in temperatures. Sunday could see widespread rain, which will be followed by a polar plunge, sending temperatures plummeting into the 20s by Sunday night.
The Tennessee Emergency Management Agency TEMA has been activated, advising residents to be wary of black ice during Monday morning’s rush hour due to a flash freeze overnight.
Memphis Light, Gas, and Water MLGW is prepared for possible power outages and recommends that residents keep faucets dripping and insulate outdoor pipes to avoid freezing.
TEMA has warned that the quick drop in temperatures could lead to hazardous driving conditions.
The KWAM severe weather team, including Ben Deeter, Commander Chuck, and Meteorologist Laura Huckabee, will be keeping the community informed through continuous updates on road conditions, power outages, and storm warnings across KWAM’s platforms.
For real-time updates, residents can tune in to 990 AM, 107.9 FM, the KWAM app, or follow KWAM on social media.
