Mammoth Cave National Park in Kentucky was recently named one of the most disappointing U.S. tourist attractions” in a recent poll.

In response, park officials took to social media to humorously embrace the ranking, inviting people to “experience what has disappointed millions for over 225 years.

Their viral post read: If you want to experience the disappointment of Mammoth Cave, visit our website and choose from our many underwhelming activities! You can see a ‘dry hole with very few stalagmites and stalactites’ or discover nothing ‘other than trees’ on our 80+ miles of hiking, biking, horseback riding, and water trails. (Note: There are bugs, spotty cell service, and stairs on some cave tours.

Officials promised visitors a world of regret” at Mammoth Cave.

The post quickly garnered over 5,000 comments in under a day.

One user shared: I’ve been disappointed since I was 6—61 years of letdowns. I don’t know why I keep coming back; nothing ever changes.

Park officials responded, saying they’re happy to be a disappointment.

Another visitor said the park didn’t live up to its disappointing reputation, having had an amazing experience.

We’re sorry to have failed you by not failing you enough, the officials replied.
