Louisiana Responds to Biden s Justice Department Lawsuit: Landry, Murrill Speak Out

BATON ROUGE, LA December 21, 2024 – Louisiana Governor Landry and Attorney General Murrill have released a joint statement in response to a lawsuit filed by Joe Biden’s Justice Department.

“This lawsuit is like a bad Christmas gift from Joe Biden to the people of Louisiana.

If President Trump were still in office, this lawsuit probably wouldn’t have happened. But now, under Biden and Merrick Garland, it seems like they’re rushing to file as many cases as they can before their time is up.

This is the same Justice Department that goes after political opponents, targets Catholics, and treats concerned parents as threats. Meanwhile, our southern border is being overrun and violent crime is rising across the country. The American people are tired of Biden’s ineffective Justice Department.

We’ve said before that the problems we face come from the failed criminal justice reforms pushed by the last administration. These reforms made the system more complicated and gave criminals easier ways to avoid punishment.

This past year, we’ve taken strong steps to protect Louisianans and make sure that criminals serve their time.

Louisiana is committed to protecting the rights of our citizens.

We’re ready to fight this lawsuit because keeping Louisianans safe is our number one priority.”
