Louisa County Man Faces Charges for Wildfire and Animal Abuse: What You Need to Know

Louisa County, VA – Andrew League is under scrutiny for multiple serious issues. The Louisa County Sheriff’s Office has connected him to a significant wildfire earlier this year, which burned over 200 acres and caused over $1 million in damage. League has been charged with leaving a fire unattended and careless damage to property by fire. In addition to the wildfire charges, League’s farm was raided in August for alleged animal abuse. Authorities seized 45 injured and malnourished animals from his property, which had been reported several times before the raid. The animals are now under the care of state veterinarians.

Neighbor Andrew Dennison, who has observed the poor condition of League’s animals and witnessed the wildfires, expressed concern over League’s ability to manage both his animals and fire safety properly. Dennison, a firefighter, noted that the March fire started on a Red Flag Day, with conditions that made the wildfire particularly dangerous.

Dennison believes League should either properly care for his animals or have them removed permanently to prevent further issues.
