The latest gambling tax revenue report reveals a significant financial boost for Lincoln, Nebraska, driven by sports betting and the WarHorse Casino’s performance.
WarHorse generated over $59 million in revenue during the past year, with $12 million of that amount coming from gaming taxes.
These taxes were distributed to various funds, with the largest share, 70%, going to the Property Tax Credit Cash Fund, which received nearly $8.4 million from Lincoln alone in 2024.
This marks a substantial increase from previous years, as Lincoln’s casino drew in only $10.3 million in 2023 and $2.7 million in 2022.
The statewide total of $29.1 million in gaming taxes for 2024 included a notable rise in contributions to the Property Tax Credit Fund, which saw about $8 million more than in 2023.
November was particularly lucrative, coinciding with WarHorse’s expansion, which added new table games and a simulcast racing area.
The continued growth of casino revenue in Lincoln, alongside the impact on state property taxes, highlights the growing significance of the gambling industry in Nebraska’s economy.
