Kansas Black Leadership Council Hosts Empowering Brunch to Inspire Community Action

TOPEKA, Kan. WIBW — The Kansas Black Leadership Council, in collaboration with the Kansas African American Affairs Commission KAAAC, held a celebratory brunch on Saturday morning, bringing together community members to discuss achievements and inspire future change

Governor Laura Kelly was among the speakers at the event, where she highlighted the importance of community engagement and empowerment.

The focus was on encouraging the African American community to explore available opportunities and ways to get involved.

Stacey Knoell, Executive Director of the KAAAC, emphasized the significance of recognizing that leadership can be exercised by anyone, regardless of their title.

The biggest hope is to see the possibilities, Knoell stated. I’m thrilled that our keynote speaker talks about how leadership is not a title. Anyone in any position can lead; leadership is more of an action.

Knoell expressed her desire for attendees to leave the brunch feeling inspired to take actionable steps toward positively impacting their community.

If people leave here knowing they can take actions to lead and impact the community in a positive way, then I’m happy, she said.

The event served as a platform for community members to come together, share ideas, and motivate one another in their pursuit of progress.
