URBANA, Ill. WCIA — Vineyard Church is gearing up for its annual Socktober, a month-long initiative aimed at collecting socks for those in need across Central Illinois.
This year marks the fourth year of the collection drive, which has seen remarkable growth since its inception.
The church will accept all sizes and types of new socks, which will be donated to local homeless shelters and the C-U Schools Foundation.
Community Outreach Director Marti Pearson shared the impressive trajectory of the drive, stating, In our first year, we collected about 1,500 pairs of socks. Last year, we reached 13,000 pairs.
For this year’s goal, Pearson hopes to collect 15,000 pairs of socks.
For those wishing to contribute, Vineyard Church has created an Amazon wish list for online donations, and they are also providing in-person drop-off locations for sock donations.
As the initiative kicks off, the church aims to continue its mission of supporting the community and helping those in need this Socktober.
