Indiana Blue Alert Canceled After Suspect in Deputy Shooting Found Dead in Kentucky

Indiana State Police have canceled a Blue Alert issued for 33-year-old Austin Schepers, the man suspected of shooting Orange County sheriff’s deputy Zac Andry.

Schepers was found in a home on Wheeler Avenue in Louisville, Kentucky, where a confrontation with law enforcement officers, including Indiana State Police and Louisville Metro Police, led to his death.

Schepers had been the subject of a manhunt after his vehicle, a 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix, was found abandoned in West Baden, Indiana, on Friday morning. Later that evening, he was reportedly seen in Floyd County, Indiana.

Authorities had warned the public that Schepers was armed and dangerous and asked anyone who spotted him not to approach, but to contact law enforcement immediately.

The Blue Alert was canceled on Saturday, and police confirmed that there was no longer a threat to public safety. The incident involving the shooting of Deputy Andry is still under investigation.
