Indiana Authorities Investigate Roadside Death in Indianapolis as Homicide

Indiana authorities are investigating the death of a man found on the roadside in Indianapolis as a homicide.

Police officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department IMPD responded to a welfare check near East Washington Street and North Grant Avenue at around 7:59 p.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered a man lying on the roadside.

Emergency personnel pronounced him dead at 8:06 p.m.

In a press release issued around 12:30 a.m. Sunday, the IMPD confirmed they were treating the death as a homicide, noting that the man sustained injuries consistent with trauma.

Investigators have indicated that no vehicles appear to have been involved in the incident. The Marion County Coroner’s Office is working to determine the exact cause of death.

Authorities received the call after a bystander discovered the victim on the side of the road.
