Idaho Announces Grant Opportunities for America250 Initiative Celebrating 2026 Founding

Idaho organizations have new grant opportunities as part of the America250 initiative, which celebrates the founding of the United States in 2026.

The Idaho State Historical Society and the America250 in Idaho State Agency Task Force are offering grants ranging from $5,000 to $25,000, with a 10% match required. These funds can support projects related to capital improvements, accessibility, sustainability, preservation, and education. More details on eligible projects, criteria, and deadlines are available on Idaho’s America250 website under the legacy projects tab. Nonprofits, tribal, and local governments are encouraged to apply online.

Additionally, Idahoans are invited to participate in a new oral history initiative. This program will provide access to TheirStory, Inc., a subscription-based oral history software, to help manage and record oral history projects. This initiative is open to nonprofits, tribal, federal, state, and local governments, universities, K-12 schools, and for-profit businesses in Idaho.

For more information on the oral history project and to apply for the software, visit the project’s website. The deadline for both grant and oral history software applications is September 30.

On July 3, Idaho Governor Brad Little signed a proclamation to establish a task force across state agencies to plan and promote activities for the 2026 national commemoration. This task force will collaborate with the America250 in Idaho Advisory Council, which was created by the Idaho Legislature’s House Concurrent Resolution 31 and includes $1.65 million in funding for the project.
