A recent raid at Gulf Coast Prestress Partners in Pass Christian, Mississippi, led to the arrest of 16 illegal immigrants after they attempted to flee when federal immigration agents arrived.
The operation was carried out by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement ICE) the U.S. Border Patrol, and other agencies.
During the raid, authorities apprehended 18 individuals from Mexico, Guatemala, and Honduras. Two of them, who had immigration court dates and work authorization, were released.
Among those detained was a 16-year-old Mexican citizen who was transferred to the Office of Refugee Resettlement.
ICE also emphasized that under federal law, employers must verify the identity and employment eligibility of their workers.
This operation is part of a broader crackdown on illegal immigration, with the authorities continuing to target workplaces that may be employing undocumented individuals.
