Hawaii Department of Law Enforcement Director Jordan Lowe Resigns Amid Controversies

Jordan Lowe, the director of Hawaii’s Department of Law Enforcement, has resigned, and Gov. Josh Green has announced that Honolulu police Maj. Mike Lambert will take over the role, pending Senate confirmation.

Lowe had been appointed in March 2023 to head the newly established department after the dissolution of the Department of Public Safety.

His tenure was marked by multiple controversies, including internal misconduct investigations and civil lawsuits, one of which involved allegations of sexual harassment.

Lowe’s departure follows these challenges, though no specific reason was given for his resignation.

Lambert, currently working in the Honolulu Police Department’s Narcotics Vice Division, will take over as director on February 1, after serving in roles related to cracking down on illegal game rooms. In the interim, Deputy Director Jared Redulla will step in as the acting director.
