Four Dead, 17 Injured in Horrific Semitruck Crash on I-96 in Michigan

A tragic crash involving a semitractor-trailer on Interstate 96 in Michigan resulted in the deaths of four individuals and left 17 others injured late Saturday night.

According to the Michigan State Police, the incident occurred just before midnight as troopers were managing traffic in the area due to power line installation work being conducted by Consumers Energy.

Prior to the collision, a significant number of vehicles had stopped in the westbound lane near the M-52 intersection, necessitating a complete shutdown of the road for a brief period.

As traffic began to move again, the semi-truck struck the halted vehicles, indicating that the driver may not have noticed the traffic backup in time to stop.

The impact of the crash led to both the truck and over a dozen other vehicles catching fire.

Emergency responders transported the 17 injured occupants to UM Sparrow Hospital and McLaren Hospital in Lansing, where they are being treated for serious injuries.

This incident highlights the dangers of road work zones and the importance of heightened awareness among drivers in such areas.
