FBI Investigates Fires Set in Washington and Oregon Ballot Drop Boxes Ahead of Election Day

The FBI is investigating after incendiary devices set fires in ballot drop boxes in Washington and Oregon, destroying hundreds of ballots just days before Election Day.

This incident has reignited concerns about election security and integrity.

In Cranston, Rhode Island, election officials have responded to the news by emphasizing the measures in place to secure local ballot boxes, which are monitored by 24-hour surveillance at town halls and police stations.

Cranston Director of Elections Nick Lima assured residents of the steps taken in recent years to bolster election security, adding that multiple options are available for casting ballots beyond using drop boxes, such as voting at election offices or in-person polling locations.

“These attacks on our elections infrastructure are alarming, Lima stated, noting that those responsible for these kinds of felonies face severe consequences.
