Eric Hovde Criticizes Clean Water Act at Wisconsin Cranberry Bog Campaign Stop

In his campaign stop at a Tomah cranberry bog on Tuesday, Wisconsin Senate candidate Eric Hovde emphasized the challenges that inflation and government regulations have imposed on local farmers.

Hovde specifically criticized the 1972 Clean Water Act, arguing that its broad interpretation has enabled government overreach in regulating water on farms, which has been a contentious issue for decades.

He advocated for a more farmer-friendly approach, suggesting that the government should listen to farmers to help them succeed.

Wisconsin’s agricultural community is such an enormous part of Wisconsin, and we have to make sure our farmers can survive and thrive, Hovde stated, addressing the struggles farmers are currently facing.

Earlier that day, Hovde also spoke at the Wisconsin Counties Association’s annual conference in La Crosse, discussing issues related to healthcare and housing.
