Delaware employers now have access to the Department of Labor’s Division of Paid Leave portal to assist with compliance regarding the state’s new paid family medical leave requirement.
Under the Healthy Delaware Families Act, eligible workers are entitled to up to 12 weeks of paid leave for several circumstances, including the birth of a child, serious health conditions, caring for a family member with a serious health condition, or addressing the impacts of a family member’s military deployment.
Employers have the option to enroll voluntarily in the public plan or provide the required coverage through a private plan.
To meet the law’s requirements, employers must enroll by December 1st, although the benefits will not be required until January 1st, 2026.
To help employers navigate these changes, the Division will host an informational webinar on paid leave and compliance requirements on Thursday, October 17th, at noon.
