Election season is underway in Wisconsin as clerks begin mailing absentee ballots to voters who requested them, with Thursday marking the deadline.
In Oak Creek, some residents have already received their ballots, with voters able to drop them off at the city’s designated drop box.
Robin Matchett-Schmidt, a local resident, expressed her appreciation for the absentee voting option, saying, I have five kids, work full time, and lots of stuff going on, so it’s nice to have that option, especially for people who can’t get out there.
In Milwaukee, Elections Executive Director Paulina Gutierrez highlighted the secure process of handling absentee ballots, ensuring they are properly signed and witnessed before being stored securely until Election Day.
Milwaukee’s drop boxes will open on Monday, October 14.
For some, like Cheryl Farnsworth, who voted absentee in 2020, this election will bring her back to in-person voting.
I prefer to go in person because it’s more personal, and I like to get out and vote on that day, she said.
Both voters emphasized the importance of making their voices heard, regardless of political affiliation. Election Day is set for November 5, with voters encouraged to visit myvote.wi.govhttps://myvote.wi.gov to see what’s on their ballot.
