On Monday night, slogans like Vance on Trump: ‘What an idiot were projected onto Trump Tower in New York City.
This stunt, organized by the Democratic National Committee DNC, was similar to a recent projection on Chicago’s Trump International Hotel in August.
The DNC confirmed to the Daily Beast that it was behind the Manhattan projections, which were timed to draw attention to the upcoming vice presidential debate between Senator JD Vance and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.
According to CBS News, Vance arrived at Trump Tower just hours before the projections started, preparing for Tuesday night’s debate at the CBS Broadcast Center in Manhattan.
The projections featured comments Vance made in 2016, where he called Trump an idiot. Vance initially opposed Trump but shifted his stance around 2022.
Other messages displayed on Trump Tower included Trump is a chicken a jab at Trump for refusing to debate Vice President Kamala Harris for a second time along with phrases like Project 2025 HQ and Go Coach Walz.
DNC Deputy Communications Director Abhi Rahman issued a statement, saying, Donald Trump and JD Vance will do anything to gain unchecked power, no matter the cost. Vance once called Trump unfit to be president, but now he’s trying to sell the dangerous Project 2025 agenda, which would roll back Americans’ rights.
Rahman added that while Vance was taking the debate stage to compensate for Trump’s lack of debate performance, these projections served as a reminder that both men were self-serving. He noted that Trump continues to avoid being held accountable by Harris for his “failed record and dangerous agenda.”
Responding to the stunt, Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung told Fox News President Trump is living rent-free in Kamala Harris and the Democrats’ minds, infected with Trump Derangement Syndrome.
This comes just weeks after the DNC pulled a similar stunt in Chicago, projecting slogans like Trump-Vance: Out For Themselves and Trump-Vance: Weird as Hell onto Trump International Hotel during the Democratic National Convention.
At the time, Rahman emphasized that Harris and Walz have proven records of supporting working families and are focused on leading the country toward a brighter future.
