Democrats Face Tension as Obama Advises Biden to Reconsider 2024 Run

Fresh tension is rising among Democrats as questions about President Joe Biden’s candidacy grow louder. Reports suggest that former President Barack Obama has advised allies that Biden should reconsider running for re-election.

Latino leaders in Colorado have voiced strong support for President Biden. They insist that if he steps down, there is only one other candidate they would back. “Latino voters should know that our rights and future are at great risk if Trump becomes president,” said Rudy Gonzales, CEO of Servicios de la Raza and DNC delegate.

A coalition of Latino community leaders in Colorado has united to support the Biden-Harris ticket and warn against the Republican agenda, particularly Project 2025. “The Biden-Harris administration has committed to us,” said Ean Thomas Tafoya of Green Latinos Colorado. “I’ve seen them sign an environmental justice order. We will never see that under a Trump administration.”

These leaders felt compelled to show their support after recent rhetoric at the RNC.

“I’ve been involved in every election since the 1960s. This is the first time I’ve had fears for our country if Trump is elected,” said Polly Baca, a member of the Colorado Women’s Hall of Fame and longtime Democratic leader. Baca will serve as a delegate and elector at the DNC.

Amid concerns about President Biden’s health, FOX31 asked these leaders if they would support another Democrat. They unanimously agreed that Kamala Harris is the only suitable candidate if Biden does not run.

“There is no one else in the country better qualified than Kamala Harris to succeed Joe Biden. But I want Biden to continue running. The Biden-Harris ticket is the best for our country,” Baca said.

The group’s views do not represent all Latinos in the state. Former President Trump has endorsed Gabe Evans for Colorado’s eighth congressional district and Dave Williams, who ran for the fifth congressional district.
