LOUISVILLE, Ky. — COVID-19 cases are rising across the country, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This increase includes more visits to emergency departments, hospitalizations, and deaths.
While COVID-19 levels in Kentucky and Indiana are currently low, experts at UofL Health warn that this could change with many students returning to school. An infected student could spread the virus to many others during the school day.
Dr. Mark Burns from UofL Health explains that if students who are sick do not stay home, they could easily spread the virus to others.
To help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other illnesses, UofL Health advises keeping students at home if they are sick with a fever or cough.
The CDC suggests wearing masks, maintaining social distance, and getting tested to help reduce the risk of transmission and severe illness.
