The Wahlburgers grill in the Town of Brookfield has permanently closed. The 6,000-square-foot restaurant, located at 325 N. Market St., opened nearly five years ago through Hy-Vee, Inc. as the first Wahlburgers franchise in Wisconsin.
Wahlburgers is run by Chef Paul Wahlberg and his actor brothers, Mark and Donnie Wahlberg. The restaurant at The Corners of Brookfield offered made-from-scratch burgers, chicken, fish, vegetarian options, and a full bar.
During a preview before the restaurant’s opening in September 2019, Paul Wahlberg expressed his aim to meet Midwestern standards of kindness, friendliness, and quality, humorously noting that Milwaukee residents were “too friggin’ nice.”
The Brookfield location has already been removed from the Wahlburgers website. Its social media pages have been taken down, and it is marked as “permanently closed” on Google.
Wisconsin still has six Wahlburgers locations in Madison, La Crosse, Eau Claire, Ashwaubenon, Fitchburg, and Janesville, according to the company’s website. The Journal Sentinel has contacted Wahlburgers for the reason behind the sudden closure but has not yet received a response.
