A Boone County man, Dana Shepherd, appeared in court on Wednesday after being charged with murder and rape connected to a 1993 killing in Indianapolis.
Shepherd, 52, faces two murder charges and one rape charge in Marion County, Indiana, for the death of Carmen Van Huss. He is currently being held without bond in Boone County as a fugitive from another state.
There was no change in his bond status during Wednesday’s court appearance. An extradition hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 26. Shepherd doesn’t have an attorney yet but plans to hire one.
The charges stem from the murder of Van Huss on March 23, 1993. DNA evidence linked Shepherd to the case, according to court documents.
