Shelby Busch, chair of Arizona’s delegation at the Republican National Convention, cast Arizona’s 43 votes for Donald Trump on Monday. Busch’s nomination comes amid calls for unity following an assassination attempt on Trump.
Recently, Busch faced backlash for a video where she made a disturbing remark about Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer, saying she would “lynch” him. Richer, who is Jewish, was compared unfavorably to another man in the video.
The Anti-Defamation League and the Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Phoenix condemned her comments as “vile.” Richer, a Republican, criticized the remarks, stating they are harmful and not suitable for the Republican Party.
Despite the controversy, Busch focused on securing Arizona’s border and fixing its election system while casting her votes for Trump at the convention. She has not yet responded to requests for comment.
