Arizona State Troopers Arrest Mexican Driver After Shooting Incident on I-10

State troopers arrested a man from Mexico on Tuesday night after he was suspected of shooting a gun while driving on Interstate 10.

Around 11:30 p.m., the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) got a call about a black Chevrolet Tahoe firing shots while driving west on I-10 near Guadalupe Road. No one was reported hurt, and there was no damage to property.

A driver saw the shooting and called DPS, following the Tahoe from a safe distance while giving updates to the dispatcher.

Troopers eventually stopped the vehicle on northbound Interstate 17 near Glendale Avenue, in northern Phoenix. The 24-year-old driver, identified as Luis Ventura Mendivil Mendez from Mexico, was arrested without resistance.

Mendez was taken to a Maricopa County jail and faces charges of DUI, firing a gun within city limits, disorderly conduct with a weapon, and possessing a firearm as a prohibited person.
