America’s 50 Best Hospitals for 2025: Three New York Hospitals Make the List

Healthgrades has released its list of America’s 50 Best Hospitals for 2025, recognizing top-performing hospitals across the United States. The rankings are based on risk-adjusted mortality and complication rates for more than 30 conditions and procedures, evaluating approximately 4,500 hospitals nationwide.

Three New York Hospitals Among Nation’s Best
Among the top 1% of hospitals in the country, three from New York made the prestigious list:

  • Lenox Hill Hospital
  • Stony Brook University Hospital
  • Vassar Brothers Medical Center

This marks the third consecutive year that all three hospitals have been recognized for their consistent clinical excellence.

Vassar Brothers Medical Center: Hudson Valley’s Standout
Vassar Brothers Medical Center (VBMC) was the only hospital in the Hudson Valley to earn a spot on Healthgrades’ elite list. The hospital’s commitment to patient outcomes and high-quality care continues to set a national standard.

“We are thrilled and honored to be recognized with an America’s 50 Best Hospitals Award for quality care,” said VBMC President Susan Browning in a press release. “This is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our entire team, and we will continue to strive for excellence in patient care and outcomes.”

Impact of Top-Performing Hospitals
According to Healthgrades, from 2021 to 2023, if all hospitals matched the performance of these top 50 institutions, approximately 173,516 lives could have been saved nationwide.

“As one of America’s 50 Best Hospitals, Vassar Brothers Medical Center is elevating the standard for quality care nationwide and ensuring superior outcomes for the patients in its community,” said Brad Bowman, Head of Data Science at Healthgrades.
