After Hurricane Michael, Panama City Residents Give Back to North Carolina Storm Victims

PANAMA CITY, Fla. WJHG/WECP – After Hurricane Michael caused severe damage in Bay County, a strong sense of community emerged. Now, as the area continues to rebuild, people are reaching out to help others who were impacted by hurricanes this year.

George Roberts from Roberts and Roberts Inc. was deeply moved after hearing the heartbreaking stories of families in North Carolina who lost everything due to recent hurricanes. He learned that people had lost their homes, and some had been found in trees after floodwaters rose too high.

Roberts decided to help. He reached out to his contacts in North Carolina and found out that the victims needed basic essentials like places to sleep. He also learned they were building metal structures to help people. That’s when Roberts turned to his friend Dwayne, who agreed to help by building small homes.

Thanks to their efforts, Roberts and his network have constructed eight 8×10 mini homes with insulation and electrical outlets. The first four were shipped to North Carolina on Friday, and the remaining four will be sent next week.
