Ken Hudson Campbell, known for his role as Santa in “Home Alone,” is seeking a Christmas miracle following a recent cancer diagnosis. Campbell, with a 35-year career that includes roles in beloved classics like “Groundhog Day” and “Armageddon,” received the diagnosis in late October when a tumor unexpectedly developed on the bottom of his mouth, encroaching on his teeth.
According to the GoFundMe campaign he initiated, Campbell is scheduled for a 10-hour surgery on Thursday to remove the tumor, which will also entail a significant portion of his jawbone being removed. Subsequently, he will undergo reconstructive surgery, along with rounds of radiation and chemotherapy, resulting in a lengthy 6-month recovery period.
Compounding the challenges, Campbell lost his SAG-AFTRA health insurance in January 2022 due to the pandemic. Despite securing new insurance, considerable out-of-pocket costs are expected, prompting the GoFundMe initiative.
As of the current update, the campaign has garnered a little over $58,000 of its $100,000 goal. The statement emphasizes the potential impact of the surgery on Campbell’s future employability and appeals for support to enable him to focus on regaining his health and spending more time with family and friends in the coming months.
