Some people weren’t disciplined enough as kids, which is the only reason I can think of for why some feel they can break the law and then complain when they face the consequences. This was clearly shown when a YouTuber drove his 1,000-horsepower Corvette at 120 mph right in front of a police officer.
No officer would let that slide. Even the most laid-back cop has to respond to something like that. It seems this guy didn’t realize that the police can take your car just like his parents probably should have when he was younger. Actions have consequences.
He seems to think the worst outcome is just having his car towed. In his video, as the car is being loaded onto a tow truck, he says, homie out here to the full extent of the law. In reality, when you’re caught speeding like that, you don’t just lose your car for a while you can also go to jail. In some places, they might even permanently take your vehicle. Acting like the cop was being unfair is over the top, but that’s typical for some YouTubers who love to exaggerate.
I’ve dealt with Utah Highway Patrol before, and I know that most of the officers don’t mess around. The one who pulled him over was actually pretty nice. They don’t take kindly to people treating I-15 like a racetrack, and for good reason.
I might have been more sympathetic to this guy if he hadn’t whined so much in his video. He tries too hard to get people to feel sorry for him, but he just comes off as entitled. If you break the law, you pay the price that’s how life works. He’s lucky he didn’t end up needing bail money. In Utah, the law was recently changed, and reckless driving at speeds over 105 mph is now a Class B Misdemeanor, which can land you up to six months in jail.
Also, in his video intro, he makes it clear that he enjoys doing illegal things on public roads in Utah. He and his friends joke about getting pulled over and getting in trouble, so they’re fully aware of the risks. What bothers me most is how this behavior gives car culture a bad name. It’s reckless, irresponsible, and makes it look like car enthusiasts don’t care about anyone but themselves.
